Sell, Sell, Sell: How To Up Interest in Films, Series and More

According to a variety of sources right now - film is hot. Not only is it hot, but it's doing gangbusters in spec sales.

Nice news for writers after a fairly epic slam on purchasing.

The interesting sale that has been kicked around is, of course, for Grim Night.

Grim Night isn't an especially crazy concept (though it seems fun) - but it does have a brilliant little teaser trailer that went into the loop.

Which you can also, coincidentally, watch:

The script was written by Brandon Bestenheider and Allen Bey - who both just made their first sale on this project at a (theoretically) higher range than most first time sales.

While it may have sold even without the added bonus of eye candy in an admittedly strong trailer - the hype around the film definitely has something to do with the film.

So the question now - would you make a teaser for a film pitch?

Truly... It's not so different than making a web series or short film. And there's more than one story about the show that wouldn't go until a full pitch was made with a sizzle reel attached.

High concept, low budget horror flick from the producer's of Paranormal Activity?

I don't think the trailer had much to do with it getting sold...

It helped the writers get it to a certain level. There is a certain amount of hype around it - and the fact that it is still online says something.
